Parish Church of Saint Barbara
Church in the centre of the village dedicated to the protector of miners, Saint Barbara.
Having in mind that in Rude everything is more or less related to the famous mining past, and so is the parish church in the centre of the village dedicated to the protector of miners, Saint Barbara. The miners built it for their needs, probably first in the form of a sanctuary, then as a chapel as it was recorded in church records in 1622 for the first time.
It is a simply-shaped stone building built in the Baroque style that was extended and renovated several times. Maybe the most valuable fact is how this church is appropriately incorporated into space, elevated above the centre of the village. Considering the dangers the miners faced daily, the locals and the miners were very religious, so in the Samobor museum you can see an iron cross with the inscription in German that was carried by the first miner to enter the pit.
